The Inside-Out Approach to Health

Our bodies are composed of trillions of different cells carrying out more than 200 specialized functions which, in turn, drive all the physiological systems contributing to our physical and mental performance.  Our ability to gain strength, shed unwanted pounds of body fat, increase our speed and endurance, improve our cardiovascular capacity, stay motivated, and remain injury free are all dependent upon optimal cellular health.   

If you're like most fit and active people, you invest a great deal of time, energy, and money in your training program and sports-related equipment.  But the most important and fundamental piece of your health and fitness arsenal (your body) is often overlooked.  You wouldn't take a bike out for a 50-mile ride without first making sure the chain has been lubed and the tires are holding air.  But you probably push your body, day in and day out, without giving a thought to the status of its foundational, inner health.  Ironically, our dedicated quest for health and fitness often leads to choices that don’t provide well for our bodies' basic, cellular needs.

Without proper care and maintenance, our cells will eventually start to break down; they will stop functioning properly and we will begin to experience “symptoms” which are typically grouped together and labeled as a “disease.”  When this happens, we are often encouraged to focus on an external “fix” rather than an internal cure...

Here are a few, simple things you can do to improve your cellular health:
