Synthetic Multivitamins Once Again Proven Toxic

If you pay attention to mainstream media, you have certainly seen the following headlines, "Case Closed: Multivitamins Should Not Be Used" and "New Studies Dispel Multivitamin Myths."
What these studies really prove is that synthetic chemical vitamins are harmful to human health.

We completely agree!

For example, the vitamin E product studied in a recent Annals of Internal Medicine was a synthetic, isolated form (which has been well-documented as being unfit for human consumption). The researchers never looked at full-spectrum vitamin E (which includes tocopherols), nor did they bother to study a food-based form of vitamin E.  Beta carotene, too, was studied as a synthetic chemical in isolation, not as a food-sourced nutrient like you might find in carrots or squash.

I have said  it before and will say it again now: Throw out your synthetic multivitamins!

The majority of ingredients found in them are are manufactured in China (which is notoriously lacking in standards for quality control) and contain fillers, additives, genetically-modified and other potentially-toxic ingredients. Ironically, many of the big-name, low-cost multivitamins are actually manufactured by companies owned by pharmaceutical interests. Since they have a financial incentive to make multivitamins look bad, their multivitamin formulations are intentionally designed to fail.

Here’s the bottom line:  If you want to optimize your health and well-being, you should be supplementing your diet with a multivitamin crafted exclusively from whole food concentrates, not artificial, man-made nutrients...

As we have seen once again in the Annals article published earlier this week, isolated synthetic vitamins are devoid of any long-term health benefits for heart disease, diabetes and cancer. They really are worthless unless you are suffering from a true vitamin deficiency disorder such as scurvy, beri-beri, rickets, and/or pellagra.

On the other hand, thousands of studies show that a higher fruit and vegetable or phytonutrient intake is correlated with a reduced risk of illness. Used in an isolated state, vitamins alone can't get the job done. But the combination of vitamins AND their complementary phytonutrients (which occur naturally together in real fruits and vegetables) can.

Makes sense, doesn’t it?

Humans evolved consuming food in its WHOLE form. And because of this, all of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and enzymes in food concentrates work together to give your body the nutrition it requires for optimal health.

In a perfect world, a person could satisfy his or her nutritional needs by diet alone. Unfortunately, we don’t live in a perfect world. And even if your diet is perfectly-balanced and 100% organic, you will almost certainly still suffer from a variety of nutritional and/or metabolic imbalances. The ever-diminishing quality of our food supply, lack of adequate sunlight, and proliferation of both environmental pollution and stress are the primary culprits.
